Overview of CAT Exam 2023 

The Common Admission Test (CAT) is an entrance exam conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs). It is a national-level exam for admission into MBA and PGDM programs in the 2023-2024 academic year. The CAT exam is designed to test the aptitude, reasoning ability and reading & writing skills of aspirants seeking admission to IIMs. The exam will be conducted in a computer-based form. 


CAT 2023 Syllabus and Exam Pattern

CAT is an exam held annually for admission to postgraduate management programs in 20 premier IIMs, as well as over 400 other B-schools. To secure a seat at one of these esteemed institutions, CAT aspirants must be aware of the syllabus and exam pattern for CAT 2023.


The CAT exam has three sections: quantitative ability, verbal ability & reading comprehension, and logical reasoning & data interpretation. The total number of questions in the exam is 66. There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
