Forget the Fountain of Youth: 5 Tips for Feeling Younger

It’s an age-old pursuit (pun intended), to stay young and energetic forever. While the fountain of youth may not exist in reality, the good news is that slowing the aging process is a reality.

You can begin feeling younger and more vibrant today. Some methods take more time than others, but the road to feeling younger can begin immediately with these 5 simple tips.

  1. Get Enough Sleep
As we said, some steps to feeling younger can begin immediately. Getting a full night’s sleep is one of them.

The phrase, “get your beauty sleep” exists for a reason. Adequate sleep doesn’t just make those bags under your eyes diminish, it also gives your mind and physical body a chance to rebuild, recover, and refresh.

Sleep is when your cells recover and rebuild–most noticeably, your skin cells. Lack of proper sleep is also shown to cause a higher risk of age-related diseases. These include everything from heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and more.

  2. Get Social
Having a strong support group of friends and family does more than making life more enjoyable. Regular social interactions with close family and friends can reduce stress, improve mental and emotional health, and help you cope with troubling life events.

Being around other people can also help promote a healthier lifestyle.

The effects of emotionally difficult events or disappointments are lessened when you have others to share the load.

  3. Eat Whole Foods
You’ve heard of all the different fad diets. Well, eating whole foods isn’t a fad that will ever go out of fashion for those who wish to live and look younger.

When we say whole foods, we mean foods in their most natural state. Think LOTS of fresh fruits and vegetables. The more colorful your plate, the better.

The health benefits of eating more plants could be an entire post in itself. So, suffice it to say, the more whole grains, veggies, and fruits you eat and the fewer processed foods and red meats, the stronger your body.

  4. Eliminate Stressors
OK, it may be impossible to eliminate all stressors entirely, but reducing stress in your life is a sure-fire way to prevent premature aging.

There have been numerous recent studies talking about a little something called telomeres. To put it simply, these are part of your chromosomes that can influence how quickly your mind and body age.

The studies show that the less stress you have, the longer your telomeres. The longer your telomeres, the slower you age.

  5. Get Regular Exercise
Age really is just a number. Besides knowing what the senior citizen age is for perks, you don’t need to worry about your age if you’re staying in shape.

No matter your age, if your health permits, you can and should continue a regular exercise routine.

Exercise keeps your muscles toned, bones strong, immune, and digestive systems healthy, and infinitely more. Young living can’t be accomplished without a regular exercise routine that combines both aerobic and muscle-toning exercises.
