Step by Step FUE Hair Transplant Technique

There are eight steps in which an FUE hair transplant is done. These steps are effective and simple for the patient. We will discuss these eight steps in detail below so that you may understand the process of hair transplant properly.

Here are the 8 Steps of Fue Hair Transplant Technique

  1. Pictures

Pictures are taken for medical purposes with a customary background of the pictures. These pictures are taken in the positions predefined and are used for the purposes of documentation and the analysis of the result of the treatment. Every patient who gets a hair transplant receives an album of pictures of his/her treatment. The picture album contains step by step pictures of their surgery; a medical group takes these photographs with an extraordinary camera.

  2. Recipient and donor areas are marked

The head of the patient is marked in two categories; 1 for the donor and the other for the receiver. The donor is the place that has good hair growth and which donates its healthy hair follicles for the bald area. The recipient or receiver is the place that doesn’t have good hair growth and receives hair follicles from the donor. The donor area is shaved (completely or partially, according to the requirement) so that it becomes easy to work on the follicles.

  3. The abstraction of healthy follicles from the donor area for the recipient area

The areas of the head are marked for donor and recipient areas; anesthesia is applied to the donor area. The donor area gives its good growing and healthy hair follicular units to be transplanted on the balding area of the head. The reason that the hair follicles are taken from a densely haired area is that they don’t have the tendency to fall or become bald or extinct, so they work fine on the bald areas.

Healthy hair follicles are extracted with a super sharp and superfine surgical instrument called ‘the punches.’ The limit of their delicacy is that their tip is small and sharp from .8 to 1.1 millimeters. The hair follicles which are extracted with the help of punches vary on the density of hair from where the follicular units are taken (in a one-day procedure). One day extraction process may result in up to 1500- 2000 follicles, which lead to 2500 to 6000 hairs. The number of hair follicles also depends on patient to patient. When the extraction is complete, the hairs in the follicles are equal to the number of hair transplanted in the recipient area.

  4. Preparing the follicular units

After the extraction of follicles is done, the extracted follicular units are placed in a solution that is designed especially for these units. This solution makes sure that the follicles stay alive and active. The medical team prepares the follicles under a microscope for retransplantation. The right preparations and preservation of the follicles are necessary for this surgery to succeed.

  5. Storing the follicles

The hair follicles need to stay alive from the time of extraction to the time of replantation. Otherwise, the follicles will die out of the body, and the surgery will be for nothing. They should be appropriately preserved, kept hydrated, and should be provided with ideal temperature to keep up their efficacy until they are planted again in the recipient bald area.

  6. A light break

The hair transplanting surgery is a long and tedious one; it may take up to 6-8 hours. Because of this reason, the patient is served a light lunch in the recovery room or some other private room. This helps in soothing the nerves of the patient as well as gives the patient a chance to recharge themselves.

  7. The implantation of healthy follicular units

Finally, the time arrives for the final treatment. The recipient areas of the scalp are applied with anesthesia, and micro orifices are marked on the place where follicles will be planted.  The hair follicles from the donor are planted with a needle of a 1-millimeter thickness (avoiding puncturing the blood vessels in the scalp). The incision helps in transplanting the follicles in the same direction as of the original hairs. Each follicular unit has 1 to 4 hairs. This means that when there is only one hair, then precise implanters are used, but when there is 4 or more hair, then higher diameter implanters were used. But, they are all still under one millimeter in diameter.

Hair follicles are implanted in the bald areas with complete precession and careful distribution so that when the hair grows, they look naturally grown. The hairline is followed in proper order.

  8. After the procedure

More than 80% of the transplanted hair falls in the third to sixth week of transplantation, but they leave their roots in the scalp. Those roots then grow new healthy hair; all this process takes up to 2-4 months (after the transplant). The transplanted hair doesn’t genetically have baldness in them, so they don’t fall as much as the original hair used to.

The FUE hair transplant is a beneficial thing for all those people who are suffering from baldness and lack of confidence due to baldness. However, it is an expensive surgery, so before you decide to get it, you should learn all you can about the Follicular Hair Extraction or FUE hair transplant cost in Pakistan.
