Parents are always concerned about their child’s overall development. In this competitive era, there is a dire need for parents to train their kids from the initial years of life so that they become stronger on all grounds i.e. financially, physically and mentally. The little ones should be made aware of their surroundings so that they care about the different elements of the environment such as people, animals and plants surrounding them. EVS or Environmental Studies is one such systematic multidisciplinary field that studies human interaction with the environment. Young kids are taught EVS for Class 1 that make them aware of their surroundings and to understand how the environment works.
With ever-increasing competition in the educational arena, it is imperative to train young kids in their formative years of learning. The entire school system has designed a curriculum that helps kids to stay updated about their environment, polish their arithmetic skills and boost their spoken and linguistic skills at the same time. It is therefore important for parents to be attentive to their kid’s educational needs.
Parents should inculcate the learning of EVS for Class 1 kids. They should include Environmental Science activities in their kids learning process as it is a wonderful way to engage them. Kids can be taught either at home or school about different environmental activities so that they can learn about the environment and the impact that humans have on it. They can be taught with the help of a few hands-on projects and experiments.
Awareness about the environment can be created in kids by making them practice from the EVS Class 1 Worksheets. These worksheets are designed in a simple manner to create a blend of fun and educational activities among kids and make it interesting for them. Here are some activities that kids can participate in to learn EVS for Class 1:
Learn to make compost: The process of learning to make compost is one of the best ways to teach kids how to recycle leftovers and how different things break down into the earth. They can be taught how different bins should be maintained for disposing waste. One bin can be kept for filling dry waste such as organic matter, vegetable peels, dried leaves, etc. and all of these can be recycled and used as a natural fertilizer for plants in the garden. A plastic waste bin should be maintained where they can discard disposable nappies, disposable plastic bags, discarded paper clips, etc. By teaching them this basic difference in bins, they tend to grow up learning that no two wastes should be disposed together considering the greater benefit of the environment.
- Make them study the ecosystem: Kids should be taken to visit natural environmental sites such as gardens, zoos, ponds, etc. with sufficient protection once or twice in a month so that they learn about the various living and non-living beings in the environment. For instance, when they are taken to a zoo, they should be made to watch different animals and learn to distinguish how one animal is different from another. Likewise, they should be taught to plant saplings so that they learn to appreciate how human beings benefit from it and how it helps to counteract the effects of global warming. It is also important to make them aware about the various air and water pollutants in the environment such as how discarding sewage and chemical wastes in water bodies causes water pollution and smoke from automobiles and factories cause air pollution.
